Abba’s Attentiveness

The following is a beautiful reflection written by a friend of our ministry, Carlos Zepeda, who serves with Dylan DeMarsico at Thrive church in Lathrop, California.

There is a specificity to Abba’s attentiveness

He is constantly looking at our decisions

Not in judgement

But in fascination

He knows us better than we know ourselves

He notices the decisions we make when we don’t know we’re making decisions

The minuscule sub conscious thought about which trash can I’m going to throw my coffee into

Deciding whether or not to bite the nail of my left or right thumb

The random urge to place my hand on the head of every child I come across

When I try to make two steps in every square of the sidewalk

Hoping it is like that every time, but knowing it might become three or one step

The intricate details of our lives that to us seem so small

To him, they’re everything

The uniqueness of my fingerprint is a reminder that I was made by someone who desired to show the world how beautifully he sees me

To be made simply to receive love

His love

To receive His fascination and attention

The Abba I know is the one of the highest degree of intentionality, not only does he love to get to know me by my words, but by observing, with joy that he made something so pure.
