A Note from the Editor: The following is from a post written by David Burgess. I love his passion to get at the root issues behind the pain and frustration we experience. The following is not meant to dismiss or deny actual problems that exist within the structures of “church.” From my perspective, this is meant to get us to see into the deeper issue of “blame” and “misplaced expectations” (a topic we discussed last month with another post from David).
We’re all just looking to find fault,
blaming ” the church ” for a bad view of God;
No.
Who’s the church made up of?
People: Me, and you.
The problem is the acceptance and validation we’ve chased, all our lives –
And we all project that onto God…
He’s better than we’ve been taught, because
He’s better than we’ve believed.
We’re looking for a scapegoat~
There’s nobody really at fault-
That’s why Love can’t find it! (*See 1 Corinthians 13:5*)
But at some point, we have the honor of seeing in unveiled vision;
Or else, it’s your parents, who said it was THEIR parents, who said….. . .
And we just blame Adam & Eve, and go along with our day~
Meanwhile, one man has revealed Himself to ALL, for those with eyes to see..
Thank goodness for His Spirit that resonates truth – or ‘fault’ really would be a reality, having a place to land, with blame being justified,
And we’d be *reduced* to how each of us all see, in our blindness…
‘Fault’ is codependency;
It’s (unknowingly) believing you’re only as strong as the next man’s weakness [blind spots]..
And it dissipates when you no longer have expectations (mis)placed in people, but founded in our Father, cornerstoned in Christ, held by Holy Spirit.
It’s not “church hurt”;
It’s veiled worth…
No one’s a victim of (blind, leading the) blindness:
A Light has come.
