Visions of Ecstasy

“Dear, dear friend and lover, you’re as beautiful as Tizrah, city of delights, Lovely as Jerusalem, city of dreams, the ravishing visions of my ecstasy. Your beauty is too much for me – I’m in over my head. I’m not used to this! I can’t take it in.”

Song of Solomon 6:4-5 MSG

Why did God create you? Were you created to be a helpless child, tossed to and fro by every wind and wave? Did He create us for one big suffering test? To see how we would do under the pressures of life? Are we just holding on, trying hard to make it through?

There’s so much more…

You were created to be a vision of ecstasy to God. You were created to be the bride of Christ, completely beautiful and intoxicating to His heart. You are living in the middle of a love story, one in which you are the ongoing target of an everlasting love. A love that is ever-blasting with pleasure galore.

In the beginning God created you to be His image. To be a reflection of His own glorious joy and beauty. When He sees you, He sees Himself. He sees the endless reflection of His own perfection. And He sees it in you, in a beautifully unique way. You reflect the glory of God back to God in a way that only you can, and it fills His eyes with visions of ecstasy.

Don’t Settle

You will not find satisfaction in merely being a “cultural Christian.” In simply doing what Christians do; going to church, reading your bible, praying, etc, etc. These things are truly blessings and they will be a part of any healthy relationship with Christ, but if they are all you have, you will not find contentment.

What the heart was created for is total wonder and amazement at the infinite love and ecstasy of God. To be totally lost in the Sauce. To live as His pleasure, moment to moment, because “Thou hast created all things, and for Thy pleasure they are and were created” (Revelation 4:11). It’s the reason you exist, to live in communion with this invisible God who is delighting Himself in you every moment of every day.

The temptation of the ages is to “tone it down.” To sort of “half and half” this revelation of God. To say, yes, He’s this good, but it’s not really for you. Unless you do this, or do that, this revelation of God isn’t really yours. But the earth-shattering, heaven-splitting, hell-exploding truth is that the revelation of God’s infinite love and pleasure is for you, without you even lifting a finger.

It’s in this revelation that the heart explodes with a desire to do good works and love the lost. If it’s not this, it’s merely religion, trying to do good on the outside, with a cold heart on the inside, much like the Pharisees of Jesus’s day.

Do not awaken love until it so desires…

In the revelation of His love, our hearts are awakened to love others (see 1 John 4:19). Love is genuine and real, and it sums up the meaning of our existence. And it’s only in the ecstasy of His love, that our hearts come alive to the meaning of life.

Our desire is that the whole world will awaken to this love, that every individual of every nation will find satisfaction, wonder, and amazement in His infinite goodness, leading to a life of holy love, through which the new world will begin in Christ. Read through these words from Colossians 1 in the Passion Translation slowly…

There is a divine mystery – a secret surprise that has been concealed from the world for generations, but now it’s being revealed, unfolded and manifested for every believer to experience. Living within you is the christ who floods you with the expectation of glory! The mystery of Christ, embedded within us, becomes a heavenly treasure chest of hope filled with the riches of glory for his people, and God wants everyone to know it!

Christ is our message! We preach to awaken hearts and bring every person into the full understanding of truth. It has become my inspiration and passion in ministry to labor with a tireless intensity, with his power flowing through me, to present to every believer the revelation of being his perfect one in Jesus Christ.
